CRAFTING WITH PURPOSE

Beading Injustice was formed with a unique purpose- to support incarcerated artists by providing them with a way to purchase basic necessities and relieve financial pressure from loved ones.

In prison, money is non-existent, so incarcerated people often resort to bartering goods. Our jewelry has been a valuable commodity for those who need to trade for food, ex. 2 soups for one bracelet.

Our mission is to empower our artists by providing them with a platform to share their work, while paying them fairly and promoting the importance of human dignity.

Join us in bringing change and inspiring positive impact in this forgotten community.

The challenges of creating in prison

At Beading Injustice, we understand the difficulties of getting supplies to incarcerated artists to create genuinely unique jewelry pieces.

Supply deliveries face many challenges due to rigid security regulations and limited vendors approved to sell beads in prison.

Our creation process is strict. We are unable to use any wires, needles or sharp materials that can be turned into a weapon.  We take great care in sourcing the safest materials available to create jewelry.   Each bead delivered means a chance for an incarcerated artist to make something beautiful.

Our inventory is continually changing with new pieces,

so visit our website frequently to see our latest offerings.

Our Featured Artists

At Beading Injustice, we believe in second chances. That's why we've assembled a group of artists comprised of individuals from diverse backgrounds with different life experiences.

These individuals are working on bettering themselves and overcoming significant challenges. Each artist has a unique story to tell, and we are proud to offer a space where they can share their story.

Our incarcerated artists all share a common goal to rehabilitate themselves and not let their past define them.

William

Welcome to my world of indigenous inspired jewelry. My name is William and I am honored to share with you my passion for creating unique pieces that honor my ancestors and my culture. Each design is made with prayers and a deep respect for tradition. I use my art to raise awareness of the struggles my people face both inside and outside of prison walls. By supporting my work, not only will you be investing in beautiful and meaningful jewelry, but you will also help me in my quest to break the cycle of incarceration in Native American communities.

Isaac

My name is Isaac and I have spent my entire adult life in prison. Growing up, I experienced violence, poverty and homelessness. As a teen father, I lost  my son to leukemia because I did not have health insurance. Despite these challenges, I have found solace in creating art that is inspired by my imagination, anime and ancient mythology. Art has helped me build confidence and self-esteem in the face of adversity, and I am excited to share my passion with the world.

Derek

My name is Derek and I have battled drug addiction for most of my life, a fight that cost me relationships with people I love. My designs are emotionally inspired by my son Rhyker. Creating jewelry has been a personal journey for me, which reflects on my own struggles with anger, tragedy, and regret, followed by forgiveness, healing, and personal growth. My jewelry designs help me focus on positive outcomes and inspire deep emotions within me. Each piece carries its own unique story and reflects who I am as an an artist and as a person.
